Milwaukee Bucks ’90s Throwbacks

It’s Hardwood Classics time in the NBA and the latest edition is throws it back to the jerseys of the mid-1990s. From 1995-99 the Elliot Perry, Shawn Respert, Vin Baker and Glenn Robinson & company wore a green alternate road jersey featuring a purple deer across the lower half, Bucks lettering across the chest with a purple-to-white gradient. We’re happy to bring them back in 2013!

Throwback Month

For ten games in February and March, beginning February 1st,  the Bucks will turn back the clock with these memorable Hardwood Classic uniforms. Our players were really excited about this addition to their wardrobe, so we suited them up in full gear and took a bunch of photos that you will see over multiple channels throughout the next two months. Check out photos of that shoot and detailed shots of the jersey HERE.

Show Me Your Milwaukee

Instagram was one of the hottest apps of 2012. We used it to count down to the start of training camp, give an inside look at the team, share our favorite moments and give out free chili. It also happens to be rookie John Henson’s favorite app, and as a new resident to our fine city, John wanted to see Milwaukee though your eyes.

So we launched the the “Show Me Your Milwaukee” contest, allowing Bucks fans to tag their Instagram photos with #ShowMeYourMilwaukee and be entered to win. We’ll let John explain the details:

Last night, the winners enjoyed a Bucks win, got to meet John and will now adorn his Twitter account. Thank you to all of those who entered and congratulations to the winners. You can see all the entries with the winning photos at the top here.

John Henson poses with the winners of the Show Me Your Milwaukee Contest following the Bucks 110-102 win over the Sixers on January 222nd, 2013.

Marquis’ Ride

It was hard to miss the first time I saw it. I thought one of the new interns had just miss parked in one of the players spots. Turns out that it wasn’t an errant parking job, but rather Marquis Daniels’ conversion van. Intrigued, we asked if he’d give Bucks.com a tour and ‘Quis was happy to oblige. Get to know the G/F and his ride a bit better in the video below. Enjoy!

Watch Doron Lamb In The D-League

Over the weekend rookie guard Doron Lamb was assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA D-League. Lamb practiced with the Mad Ants Sunday and is traveling with them as they take on Los Angeles (Jan. 16) and Bakersfield (Jan. 18).

Coach Boylan explained the move to the Journal Sentinel’s Charles Gardner:

This is to make him better and develop him. He shows great potential. We’re excited about his future. At the same time, there’s really nowhere for him to play right now. A lot of teams are using this open enrollment for the D-League teams where you can send a guy down and bring him right back.

You can watch both of Doron’s games LIVE on Bucks.com HERE. Wednesday’s game tips off at 9pm CST against the LA Defenders. Friday’s game also tips at 9pm CST and has former Wisconsin Badger Brian Butch and Milwaukee native Diante Garrett  (on assignment from the Phoenix Suns) slated to suit up for the Bakersfield Jam.

Brandon Jennings 8-Bit

Growing up as a part of the “Nintendo Generation” I’ve always had an affinity for 8-bit graphics. From Techmo Bowl to Punch-Out!!, hours were spent in competition among my friends for superiority of the living room. The latest addition to the Milwaukee Pro Shop  draws on that bit of nostalgia and adds a modern twist. Meet the Brandon Jennings 8-Bit T-Shirt.

8bit_shirt

Now Brandon may have missed out on the animated slam dunks of Double Dribble but with this shirt he is still an 8-Bit Hero. This modern take on a piece of history is one of my favorites. You can add it to your collection for $28 by stopping by the section 200 or 214 merchandise locations at the BMO Harris Bradley Center during a Bucks game or online HERE.

We’re also going to give one away on Tuesday before the Lakers game. Head over to @Bucks on Twitter and follow us for more details and a chance to win.

100k

It seems like yesterday we were playing around with this new service called Twitter. Well it turns out that “yesterday” was August 19th of 2008 and 28,500+ tweets later we are nearing 100,000 followers.

Watching our growth on the platform has been tremendous. We will double our followers in just over 8 months. Because of that we are going to give back to those that have followed @Bucks and made us a part of their digital lives.

Once we reach 100k followers on Twitter we are going to randomly give away 100 pairs of tickets to the February 11th game against the Washington Wizards to our followers. How do you enter? Simple. Follow the Bucks on Twitter and fill out the info here.

Thank you for following and making our Bucks online community a vibrant one. We appreciate each and every one of you. Good luck!

Buck Night

Dollar Menu. Dollar Stores. NBA Basketball for a Dollar?

YES.

Welcome to Buck Night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center this Friday as the Bucks take on the Detroit Pistons. We are offering kids tickets for just $1 in sections normally priced at $32, $25 & $20.  So you can bring yourself and two little ones to watch Larry Sanders send shots into the stands and Brandon Jennings knock down 3’s for as little as $25.60 (one adult ticket must accompany every 2 kids tickets purchased and facility fees still apply). Tickets can be purchased at the BMO Harris Bradley Center Box Office or by calling 414-227-0500.

Kids tickets for just a dollar are a great deal, but what about everyone else? How does a fan that already has tickets to the game or doesn’t have kids take advantage of Buck Night? Easy. Dollar Hot Dogs. That’s right; we are offering Hot Dogs for just a $1 on Friday night. Now there is a four hot dog limit per transaction, but if you are buying more than four hot dogs at a time, we should have another conversation.

All kids 14 and under will receive a free Bucks water bottle at the door on Friday as well. See you at Buck Night, enjoy cheap kids tickets, hot dogs and a Bucks win.
